Local government is adjusting to the reality of spending cuts and a need to innovate through partnership, working with the private and voluntary sectors. We have been working with local authorities for more than 25 years and are deeply immersed in the public sector and fully understand its pressures.
Our local government lawyers can support you on a wide range of issues facing your authority including:
We act for over 50 local authorities at any one time from our offices in London, Watford, Bristol and Birmingham. Our team talks the language of local government coupled with extensive in-house experience. This includes advising on some of the first community right to bid and challenge cases under the Localism Act, as well as niche services in election law and member standards.
We are appointed to numerous public sector frameworks, which permits public sector bodies to instruct us without a new procurement process. For example, we have been a panel member of the Lawyers in Local Government (LLG) since its inception in 2013, allowing over 30 local and public authorities to access legal services.
As part of our commitment to the public sector, we are also members of the Procurement Lawyers Association.
The challenges facing local government lawyers are considerable. The Local Government Training Partnership is designed to help, providing an annual programme of training seminars for members.
Has ‘a breadth of knowledge across a wide range of practice areas’, assisting local authorities on contentious and non-contentious matters.
